Central Records Unit

The Colorado State Patrol Central Records Unit (CRU) is responsible for the retention of Colorado State Patrol (CSP) Criminal Justice Records, as well as the release of information to the public, other law enforcement agencies, and insurance companies.

Basic Crash Report

This is the information gathered from the Trooper regarding a Traffic Crash. This report contains information that represents a synopsis of the crash and does not include any witness statements, digital media or any other aspect of the crash investigation. (See additional request definitions below).

Complete Case File

This encompasses the entire investigation report and does include if obtained; witness statements and other written reports.

To order photographs you will need to verify the availability by calling 303-239-4180 prior to submitting your request. Any photos deemed to be graphic in nature will not be released without written authorization from an immediate family member.

Dash Cam/Body-Worn Camera

Availability and payment must be obtained for Dash Camera or Body-worn camera prior to processing a request.

Dispatch Audio/Dispatch Detailed Incident Report

Radio communication is between the dispatcher and the Troopers. In some cases does NOT include initial 911 calls. The detailed incident report is a printout transcript of that communication.
