WHEN SHOULD I CALL?

• Your bicycle is making noise that is abnormal and unidentifiable. If you can’t figure out where an unusual noise is coming from on your bike, take it in. The last thing you want is a surprise on your next ride.
• There’s persistent rubbing or sticking of components. If components are rubbing or sticking, they won’t work as well as they should and they can wear out much faster, both of which can be dangerous for your ride.
• Your derailleur isn't working properly. The derailleur makes it possible to shift gears, so if this isn’t working properly it takes away a lot of functionality from the bike. If the derailleur is making odd sounds or not shifting smoothly, it’s best to take it in before major damage occurs.
• Your bicycle chain keeps slipping off the chainring. The bike chain connects the pedals to the rear wheel, it’s a crucial component for making the bike move. If the chain keeps slipping off the chain ring, it’s you’ll want to have a professional look at it.
• Once a year for a basic spring tune-up. It’s always a good idea to make sure your bike is in good working order before bike season begins. That way, any small issues can be taken care of before they become serious, and you can ride with confidence.
• At least once a year to service your suspension. The suspension helps insulate both you and the bike frame itself from rugged terrain, for a smoother more controlled ride. Getting your suspension serviced annually ensures you can get the same great performance from you bike every year.

BE A COURTEOUS BIKE OWNER

• Clean your bike off before bringing it in.
• Don’t leave all your gear on your bicycle - remove saddlebags or other cargo items that may get in the mechanic's way.
• Give the bike shop a few days to work on your bicycle, especially in the spring when shops are flooded with requests.

It doesn't matter if you have a road bike, cruiser, mountain, hybrid, or e-bike — bikes are like cars and need regular maintenance to function. Unlike cars, they're exposed to the elements and may need more frequent or intentional care.
